Meet birdie
Birdie is five, funny, and fiercely determined. She's also living with Type 1 Diabetes, which means her pancreas went to the store for milk and never came back. Rude.
If you're new to T1D, here's the quick version: there's no days off, no 'sleeping in', and no 'just one bite won't hurt'. Blood sugar is a full time job and apparently Birdie has the night shift.
A Diabetic Alert Dog can help lighten that load. These dogs are trained to sniff out blood sugar changes before technology even catches them. They're basically super-sniffers with paws.
That means more stable days, calmer nights and more moments where Birdie is less affected by T1D and can just be a kid.
We're raising $21,000 to bring home Birdie's D.A.D. One that alerts, comforts and sticks by her side - and won't leave to go get milk.
